The Wilson and Plame Scandal
While the liberal media was hoping they could destroy Rove, the President's adviser, the real scandal is the disgraceful lies of Wilson in an attempt to undermine the President and therefore the nation during a war. The questions should be fast and many for Wilson, Plame and David Corn of what they knew. Mark Levin has a well done report that uncovers the real scandal of Wilson and his wife Plame. While an investigation goes on, the administration can't comment but the investigation shouldn't have anything to do with the them by now. The evidence we know clears Rove of any wrong doing. Rove was falsely accused by enemies of the President. Now that the evidence points to sinister motives by liberals in the media to destroy the President the focus should now be on those involved. The original 'so called crime' of outing a innocent CIA agent was never close to being a crime by anyone. The media, while "reporting" that there was a possible crime of an outing of an agent, the same liberal media claimed they didn't have to say what they knew because no crime was possible in the outing of Plame because she was already out long ago. The liberals tried to create a scandal for the President to deal with in his second term but now the scandal is now for the liberals to answer for to the American people.

It is clear that both sides are trying to spin this affair for their own benefit. Extremist liberals are desperate for any dirt they can find on people like Karl Rove. Extremist conservatives try to deflect attention away from the administration and toward conflicting statements by Joe Wilson.
It helps to stick to the facts of the matter:
1. A State Department memo drafted 10 June 2003 mentions the identity of Valerie Plame in a paragraph marked "Secret" so arguments about statues of limitations don't apply.
2. Joe Wilson's op-ed critical of the administration's justification for war is published on 6 July 2003.
3. In response to the op-ed, Iran-Contra coconspirator Richard Armitage asks Carl Ford of the State Separtment to find background information on Joe Wilson.
4. Carl Ford requests a copy of the 10 June 2003 memo and forwards it to the White House.
2. Said memo was on Air Force One when the President embarked on his trip to Africa on 7 July 2003.
3. On 14 July 2003, Robert Novak discloses the identity of Valerie Plame.
The crux of the Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation centers around the emails, telephone calls, and other conversations that took place between 6 July 2003 and 14 July 2003. If the special prosecutor finds evidence that Valerie Plame's identity was disclosed to the press before 6 July, then charges are unlikely to be filed. Otherwise, things look considerably more suspicious.
Even if charges are filed, a conviction is going to be tricky. The prosecution must prove that the defendant knowingly leaked the classified information (not accidental) and knew it was illegal. Satisfying one of the requirements is not too hard but proving both will be difficult.
